Missions: We serve MISSIONaLLY throughout the year in many areas. We can do so in our, neighborhoods, communities, our city, our state, and beyond. GO and tell (Matthew 28), tell everyone about Jesus Christ our Lord, our Savior, our Redeemer! It starts at home and extends throughout the world to reach the lost! We are all partakers in The “Great Commission” as born-again Christians!

Ministry Opportunities: looking forward to september, it is shaping up to have many ministry opportunities! be praying about our mimistries and missions! we have many ministries in need, and of leaders and volunteers, including Children and Youth, Senior citizens, welcome center, lawn mowing, ushers, women’s fellowship, men’s fellowship, and more. In serving, we help in many ways. In doing so, it helps us. It helps us grow personally and spiritually as the Holy Spirit teaches and guides us.

Dear friends,

we continue our in-depth journey through the fascinating psalm, psalm 119. martin luther describes it as the "word of god psalm". 17th century inventor and theologian pascal, proclaims it to be the sum of all that christians need to know. the psalmist pours out his very soul for us as he prays to and petitions god for help. we see him use eight different forms of the word in describing god's word, including statutes, testimonies, precepts, promises, law, commandments, judgements AND word. it encourages us to follow along closely as we study this great psalm. If someone were in israel today, or in hebrew school as a young scholar and reading from their hebrew bible, they would see that each section, or stanza, and each of the eight verses in each section begins with each consecutive letter in the hebrew alphabet.

this week we continue our travel through psalm 119, stanza 19. the hebrew letter qopf, pronounced koof. Its pictograph rendering looks like a sun on the horizon. its imagery relates to changing time as in the sunrising, or at nightfall. a root meaning makes a connection to perservearance, or enduring, and how we may endure our walks today as god's great light shines on us all the time.

this psalm's style is known as an acrostic and it serves two very important purposes. one, it works as a learning, or mnemonic device, to help memorize the scripture in following each section in succession alphabetically. and two, more importantly, it brings to us the full realm of god's holy word from aleph to tav, or one could think from a to z, and everything in between. a reflection of Jesus, the alpha and omega and everything in between. time and time again, we see jesus revealed to us in this great psalm.

The applications for this week from the message come pouring out of the scripture as we see the hope and shelter that god's word provides. the psalmist teaches us how to cry out to the lord in our prayer lives as he gives us an excellent outline for prayer. the entire section is an application as the truths are revealed to us. we can see the beauty in god's word through the psalmist's lens, and it leads to want more, as we too yearn for god's word!

DEVOTION: OUR CURE!

HAVE YOU EVER FELT ALONE, LIKE THERE WAS NO ONE WHO CARED ABOUT YOU OR WHAT YOU WERE GOING THROUGH? PEOPLE SOMETIMES CAN MAKE YOU FEEL THAT WAY. MAYBE BECAUSE THEY ARE FEELING INFERIOR OR FORGOTTEN THEMSELVES AND JUST WANT YOU TO SUFFER ALONG WITH THEM. OR THEY ARE JUST MEAN SPIRITED, SELFISH, AND UNLOVING. THAT IS SOMETIMES I THINK THE CAUSE OF BULLYING. EVERYONE HAS THE NEED TO BE LOVED AND NEEDED. SOMETIMES BULLYING IS CAUSED BY LACK OF LOVE AND CARE FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS OR ACCEPTANCE INTO CERTAIN GROUPS. THEY BEGIN TO HURT OTHERS BECAUSE THEY ARE HURTING INSIDE AND WANT OTHERS TO SUFFER JUST LIKE THEY ARE AS WELL. I KNOW SOMEONE WHO WAS RIDICULED, SPAT UPON, MOCKED, TORTURED WITH A WHIP, AND THEN CRUCIFIED ON A WOODEN CROSS AND DIED AT THE HANDS OF MEN FOR ME AND YOU. JESUS FELT ALL THE EMOTIONS WE DO, SO HE KNOWS HOW WE FEEL. HE COULD HAVE CALLED 10,000 ANGELS TO SNUFF OUT EVERYONE INVOLVED IN KILLING HIM AND TAKE HIM OFF THE CROSS. BUT ONE THING STOPPED HIM. IT WAS LOVE FOR HIS FATHER GOD AND FOR US. HE TOOK UPON HIMSELF ALL THE WORST IN US ON THE CROSS AND MADE THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN A REALITY FOR EVERYONE THAT BELIEVES IN HIM. DOING THE WILL OF HIS FATHER, GOD BECAUSE THAT WHAT HE WAS BORN TO DO. COMPLETING GOD’S PLAN FOR THE REDEMPTION OF MANKIND AS THE FINAL BLOOD SACRIFICE FOR SIN. MAKING A WAY FOR US BACK TO A LOVING FELLOWSHIP WITH OUR HOLY FATHER GOD THE CREATOR OF ALL. GOD AND JESUS LOVE’S YOU AND ME. HOW DO I KNOW, THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO! (23 JESUS ANSWERED AND SAID TO HIM, “IF ANYONE LOVES ME, HE WILL KEEP MY WORD; AND MY FATHER WILL LOVE HIM, AND WE WILL COME TO HIM AND MAKE OUR HOME WITH HIM. 24 HE WHO DOES NOT LOVE ME DOES NOT KEEP MY WORDS; AND THE WORD WHICH YOU HEAR IS NOT MINE BUT THE FATHER’S WHO SENT ME.) JOHN 3:16-18 (16 FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. 17 FOR GOD DID NOT SEND HIS SON INTO THE WORLD TO CONDEMN THE WORLD, BUT THAT THE WORLD THROUGH HIM MIGHT BE SAVED.18 “HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM IS NOT CONDEMNED; BUT HE WHO DOES NOT BELIEVE IS CONDEMNED ALREADY, BECAUSE HE HAS NOT BELIEVED IN THE NAME OF THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD. ROMANS 5:5-6 (5 NOW HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT, BECAUSE THE LOVE OF GOD HAS BEEN POURED OUT IN OUR HEARTS BY THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO WAS GIVEN TO US. 6 FOR WHEN WE WERE STILL WITHOUT STRENGTH, [A]IN DUE TIME CHRIST DIED FOR THE UNGODLY.) ROMANS 8:35,38-39 (35 WHO SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST? SHALL TRIBULATION, OR DISTRESS, OR PERSECUTION, OR FAMINE, OR NAKEDNESS, OR PERIL, OR SWORD? 38 FOR I AM PERSUADED THAT NEITHER DEATH NOR LIFE, NOR ANGELS NOR PRINCIPALITIES NOR POWERS, NOR THINGS PRESENT NOR THINGS TO COME, 39 NOR HEIGHT NOR DEPTH, NOR ANY OTHER CREATED THING, SHALL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.)

SO, IF WE HAVE JESUS IN OUR LIFE WE ARE NOT ALONE, WE ARE CARED ABOUT, WE ARE LOVED, WE ARE FORGIVEN, WE HAVE A PROMISE OF ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN. WE HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO HELP US DOWN HERE TO TEACH US AND GUIDE US INTO THE TRUTH. WE ALSO WILL HAVE LOVE FOR OTHERS NOT HATE AND ENVY AND JEALOUSY. THAT HOLE IN PEOPLES LIVES THAT CAUSES ALL KIND OF NEGATIVE EMOTIONS AND PAIN WILL BE FILLED WITH JESUS’S LOVE IF THEY INVITE HIM INTO THEIR HEARTS. DO YOU KNOW JESUS TODAY? HE IS THE BEST CURE FOR WHAT AILS US!

Prayer Requests

pray for our deacon search, for our music team, for cindy, as we worship in song and praise this week. This week also we pray for missions. as many mission opportunities arise, for our Adult and Children ministry programs, pray that additional teachers will come forward for our children. Pray for willard and saundra, for Joe and Yvette, and their family. for Kaitlin Woodruff, Randy, Neicy, Sandra and dewayne, Kenny and Kathy Schiwart and their family, Destiny Matthews, Joe and Elaine, Lonnie Cox. Join us in prayer for Calvary and our community as we take part in the Great Commission of sharing Jesus Christ to a world that desperately needs to hear it.
